Rich and spicy with a melange of red and black fruit flavours, while beautifully balanced by soft tannins. Selected from the best at Saxenburg, this wine will compliment any serious occasion and cuisine.
About Saxenburg
Joachim Sax first made his way up to the hills above the Kuils River, some 30 kilometres east of the Dutch settlement at the Cape of Good Hope in 1693. He was one of only 350 free burgers (free farmers) granted land by the 9th Dutch Governor, Simon van der Stel.
It was purchased in 1989 by Swiss businessman Adrian Buhrer and is one of the leading producers of high quality wine in South Africa.
Nico Van de Merwe has been winemaker since 1990 and produces wines of finesse, harmony and complexity rarely equalled in South Africa. In particular his Shiraz, which is arguably the best in the country.
