ABOUT BODEGAS MARCELINO DIAZ

Marcelino Diaz was the pioneer of red wines in Spanish Extramadura, in the extreme hinterland of south western Spain best known for its pata negra hams, conquistadors and vast plantations of anodyne white grape varieties such as Pardina sold entirely in bulk.

Today there are over 12,000 hectares of black grape varieties planted, with a further 25,000 hectares in the process of reconversion.

Puerta Palma is produced from 15 year old vines grown on Marcelino’s own 100 hectares of vineyards planted at 500 metres above sea level on the chalky clay soils of the Tierra de Barros, Ribera del Guadiana’s most important sub-region.
