New Zealand, in terms of world wine production, is just a drop in an ocean of wine. With only 9000 hectares of wine grapes in 1999, this amounted to about 0.24% of the worlds total production.
The wine that is being produced is a force to be reckoned with on the world-wide wine scene, especially the world renowned regions of Marlborough and Hawkes Bay.
New Zealand wine has been compared to the All Blacks rugby side - vibrant, fast moving and occasionally aggressive!!
